About

My name is Misty and I am the author and creator of this website. I'm a single momma of two, global teacher, school counselor, adventurer and traveler. I was born and raised in Michigan, with lakes all around and four distinct seasons. I love reading, crafting, and learning new things. 

I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I was blessed and fortunate enough to participate in a student teaching experience abroad. I visited the Dominican Republic and taught at an amazing whole language and bilingual school. They offered me a full time position, which I gladly accepted. Who doesn't want to do their dream job while living on a tropical island?

I left the DR to pursue a master's degree. I attended South Dakota State University part time, while I worked professionally for the university in housing and student life. I was one semester away for earning my master's degree in High Education, when I was compelled to redirect and get my masters in K-12 Counseling. I decided to do both! Six years and a small fortune later, I earned two master's degrees. 

I soon found opportunity to return to my home state of Michigan and work for MSU in Residential and Housing Services. I remained there for four years, until I had a child of my own. It was then that I was reminded of my passion for working with young children. I decided to return to classroom teaching in 2014 and have been there since! 

The son I had is now 11 years old! He, his younger brother (9), and I are now building a wonderful life together as a family of three. Being a momma is my favorite thing to be! We are adventurers with a zest for learning. We are currently living in JAPAN! I hope you'll join us as we explore locally, nationally, and internationally!  

I've designed my website to include all the things I love... Parenting, Teaching, Counseling, Traveling, Reading, and Crafting.
